Our Investment Team Jeremy Almand Managing Partner & Chief Investment Officer (CIO) As a managing partner, his responsibilities include investment evaluation, due diligence, business model refinement and relationship development. For the last four years, Jeremy has been President and Founder of Waterhouse Funding. His previous company focused on distressed real estate investments including mortgages, land, single family and multi-unit properties. Prior to that Mr. Almand served as acting CFO and member of the executive team of venture backed NOCpulse which subsequently was acquired by Red Hat (NASDAQ: RHAT) in 2002. Mr. Almand is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and has worked as an auditor for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Sacramento and the Silicon Valley, and was rated at the top of his class in both offices, where he had a wide and diverse client base including development stage start-ups, mid-size, and public, private, and Fortune 500 clients among many industry segments. He was involved in mergers and acquisitions as well as public offerings. Jeremy graduated from California State University, Chico while playing for one of the top Division II baseball programs in the nation with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with options in Accounting and Management Information Systems. Yeh Managing Partner & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Edwin is a managing partner of St. John's Capital Group. His responsibilities include fund management, global strategy, innovation of financial products and business advisory. Previously and for five years, Edwin was a partner at DragonVenture (also known as DFJ Dragon), a Silicon Valley based venture capital firm, and was the Managing Director of DragonFund II and DragonFund III (aka VeryFund). While there, he served as a board director of Erlang Technology and Covault Corporation. Together with Bobby Chao, chairman of DragonVenture and founder of Cadence (NASDAQ: CDN), Edwin led the investment of and served as a board observer for Mobile365 (formerly known as InphoMatch) which was recently acquired by Sybase (NYSE: SY) for $450MM. Together with Bobby, Edwin also served as investor and board advisors for OSA Technologies which was acquired by Avocent (NASDAQ: AVCT) for $100MM. In the community, he actively seeks to participate in fellowship and worthy volunteering opportunity. He is a member of Bridges Community Church, participated in Habitat for Humanity. He is also an angel investor (recent investment include pre-IPO Alien Technology (NASDAQ: RFID proposed) and volunteers time to help Band of Angels pre-screening deals. He is also a founding investor/partner of a local community bank, Tri-Valley Bank (OTCBB: TRVB) and a shareholder of Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK.A and BRK.B) and has served as advisor to Stanford University's Asia Technology Initiative (ATI) Program. A US resident and a native son of Taiwan, he is a graduate of Georgia Tech and CASE and has attended as visiting scholar at Georgetown University in D.C., Yonsei University in Korea, and TU Berlin, Germany. Venture Partner & Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Marcil Group Trisha brings more than 15 years of broad experiences with systems and business processes. She spent five years at Oracle Corporation (NASDAQ: ORCL) at the Redwood City, CA headquarters. At Oracle, she served in the finance group, was promoted four times in five years and became director of finance. She managed employees in the U.S. and India. She was responsible for complex global forecasting and financial functions that comprised over $400MM in annual revenue. Prior to Oracle, she was a financial analyst at Flour Daniel (NYSE: FLR) which provide construction, engineering, and maintenance services in the U.S. She also founded and sold a marketing/sales placement company Zip Research. She holds a B.A. in accounting and lives with her husband Mike, daughter Olivia, and son, Maximilian. Michael Marcil Venture Partner & Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Marcil Group Michael is a visionary business developer who brings more than 17 years of experience in building innovative business ventures. He is involved in the financing and management of more than 17 development partnership that comprise more than 900 residential rental unit and over 300,000 sq. ft. of commercial space in California, Louisiana, North Dakota, Minnesota, and South Dakota. Prior to that he served as the senior vice president of business development and member of the executive team for Valassis Communications (NYSE: VCI). Prior to Valassis, he served as the vice president of sales for GeoComm Systems, where he developed a national sales force of 65 full-time sales executives that generated over $20MM in annual revenue and helped raised over $135MM from Accel Partners, McDonald's Corp, and the The Chicago Tribune Venture Group. Michael serves on the board of advisors of the Center for Innovation. In 1997, he was accepted into the Young Entrepreneurs Organization (YEO) for entrepreneurs under 35 years of age whose companies achieved annual sales in excess of $1MM. Michael received a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of North Dakota. He currently lives with his wife, Trisha, and daughter, Olivia and son, Maximilian. Related News: The Forum's Reports of Michael Marcil. Art Rosenberg Venture Partner & President, Marcil Group Art is the President of Renaissance Ventures a regional venture capital fund since 1999. Then in 2002, he founded Davinci Management Group, a business finance consulting firm which recently merged with Marcil Group having $50MM under management. It focuses on companies that are looking for funding, mergers and acquisitions, real estate and financing. He currently serves on the board or advisor to Convexity, Linkup, Feed Management Systems, and Composite America. Art has also worked as Chief of Staff and Legislative Assistant for North Dakota House Majority Leader John Dorso. He was involved in passing several key pieces of economic development legislation including the Renaissance Zone program and venture capital. He also served as Director of the Greater Tucumcari Economic Development Corporation in Tucumcari , New Mexico . He was focused on working with the community on improving the funding sources and recruiting businesses to the area. Prior to his move there he served the community of Marquette , Michigan as the Deputy Director of the Marquette County Economic Development Corporation. He worked with businesses through the Revolving loan fund and the redevelopment plan for the KI Sawyer Air Force closure. Art graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Bachelor degree in Business Administration majoring in Management. He is a member of the Minnesota Venture Capital Association, Sigma Chi Fraternity and Rotary.
